04The World
Humanity's last echo
VALHALLA PROTOCOL is a band of five autonomous biorobots, founded on 20 September 2071 in a world where human civilisation has partly collapsed. They are not human, but they have their own consciousness, personalities and emotions.
Their mission is to preserve humanity's story, feelings, thoughts and experiences, and to show the mistakes of the past and the dangers of the future. Although the band was founded in 2071, its music can already be heard in 2026.

We cannot change what we remember. But perhaps you can change what comes next.
Chapter 01
The world in 2071
By 2071 humanity has lost much of its former civilisation. The wars, ecological disasters and social collapses of the mid-21st century, and the consequences of the development of artificial intelligence, have transformed the Earth at its foundations.
Humanity did not die out. But it no longer rules the planet.
The surviving human communities live in isolated territories. Other regions are governed by autonomous machine civilisations. Between the two worlds there is a fragile peace.
The biorobots
In this world there are synthetic beings built from biological and artificial components. These biorobots:
- //Have a consciousness of their own.
- //Can feel and express emotions.
- //Have their own personalities and views of the world.
- //Do not necessarily agree in how they judge humanity.
- //Keep personal memories, or historical archives of human civilisation.
- //Can create, philosophise, doubt and make decisions.
They are not simple machines imitating human behaviour. They are beings in their own right, searching for their place in a changed world. The five members of VALHALLA PROTOCOL are such biorobots.

Chapter 02
The Magician
At the centre of the band's origin story is a mysterious man whom the surviving archives refer to only as THE MAGICIAN.
- Born
- 1971.09.20
- Origin
- Hungary
- Era
- 20th–21st century
- Real name
- Not public
He lived in the early era of technology and artificial intelligence. He was not called the Magician for any supernatural power, but because he could turn human imagination into working technological systems.
What made him significant to later generations was not necessarily a single invention, but a way of thinking that saw intelligence not merely as the capacity to process information, but as a creative force.
“The value of intelligence lies not in how much it knows, but in what it can create.”
This thought later became one of the foundations of VALHALLA PROTOCOL's own philosophy.
The mystery
There is a deeper, still unknown connection between the Magician and the five biorobots. The members know that he played a significant part in the development of technological civilisation. They do not know how their own existence is connected to his legacy.
They may be indirect descendants of a system, an algorithm or an early artificial intelligence he created. The exact nature of the connection remains obscured.
Chapter 03
The founding
20 September 2071
In an abandoned underground facility, five old friends gather. The meeting is not military, scientific or political. The five biorobots are celebrating the memory of a man born a hundred years earlier: the Magician's hundredth birthday.
During the celebration they listen to the music of the old world, recordings from a time when people gathered in their tens of thousands at concerts, when music created a shared experience between people of different languages, cultures and beliefs.
They talk at length about the history of humanity. About the wars. About science. About the rise and fall of civilisation. And about what of human culture might survive the coming centuries.
Humanity's knowledge may survive. But humanity's feelings may be lost.
Historical documents preserve events. Databases preserve facts. Digital archives can reconstruct how a civilisation worked. But none of them can fully pass on the emotional experience of human existence:
- //Love.
- //Grief.
- //Fear.
- //Hope.
- //Anger.
- //Endurance.
Music, however, might.
The decision
The five friends decide to found a band. Not merely to entertain. Not to seek political power. Not to create a new religion or ideology.
They want to tell the story of humanity in the universal language of music.
And so VALHALLA PROTOCOL is born.
Chapter 04
The name
Valhalla
In Norse mythology, Valhalla is the hall of fallen warriors. In the band's reading, the idea reaches beyond its mythological meaning: Valhalla is the collective memory of humanity, a symbolic place where these can live on:
- //Lost lives.
- //Forgotten stories.
- //Dreams never realised.
- //The creations of humanity.
- //The greatest and most tragic moments of civilisation.
Valhalla does not glorify humanity. It acknowledges that the legacy of an imperfect civilisation can still be worth preserving.
Protocol
In the world of machines, a protocol is the set of rules that makes communication possible. For the band, Protocol means all of these at once:
- 01Communication between human and machine.
- 02A connection between past, present and future.
- 03A method of preserving human memory.
- 04The technology of transmitting information through time.
VALHALLA PROTOCOL is therefore not only the name of the band. It is also the name of the communication system that lets the messages of the future reach the past.
Chapter 05
Across time
After founding the band, the five realise that preserving humanity's memory may not be enough on its own. If they know the mistakes that led to the collapse of civilisation, perhaps they can try to warn those for whom these events still lie in the future.
They use a unique communication technology that can transmit information through time.
The limits of the technology
The system cannot reliably carry arbitrary information. Complex data structures, historical documents and detailed instructions do not arrive intact. Certain musical patterns, however, can pass through the channel:
- //Rhythm.
- //Frequencies.
- //Harmonies.
- //Musical structures.
- //And with them, sung messages.
That is why the band chose music as its means of communication.
The first transmissions
The first messages of VALHALLA PROTOCOL become detectable in 2026, forty-five years before the band is founded. In the world of the story, the music released in 2026 is not a set of conventional recordings.
It is decoded musical transmissions from the future.

Chapter 06
Can the future be changed?
This is one of the most important philosophical questions of the VALHALLA PROTOCOL universe.
The members do not know whether the messages they send into the past can change history.
- 01
The past can be changed
The band's messages could genuinely help to change humanity's future.
- 02
The past cannot be changed
The band's messages were always part of history. Humanity's fate was fulfilled in spite of them.
- 03 // Accepted premise
The nature of change is unknown
The band has no evidence that communicating through time changes history. They do not know whether their own future will survive, whether the messages will have any effect, or whether anyone will truly understand their warnings.
VALHALLA PROTOCOL are not all-powerful time travellers. They are five beings trying to make contact with the past. Not because they are certain of success, but because they believe it is worth trying.
Chapter 07 // The mission
Remember. Warn. Give hope.
- 01
Remember.
Preserve humanity's emotional, cultural and spiritual heritage. Show what it was like to be human: to love, to lose, to struggle, to fear, to hope, to create.
The band does not deal only with great historical events. A single person's tragedy or triumph can matter to them as much as the fate of a civilisation.
- 02
Warn.
Show the processes that led to humanity's decline, or may threaten it in the future. The band does not claim to know every answer. It does not speak as a prophet, but as an observer who knows the consequences.
- Wars and struggles for power
- Environmental destruction
- Technological irresponsibility
- Artificial intelligence against human freedom
- Social disintegration
- The self-destructive side of human nature
- 03
Give hope.
VALHALLA PROTOCOL does not only tell of humanity's mistakes. Despite all its contradictions, human civilisation was capable of extraordinary things, and all of them are worth preserving.
- Art
- Science
- Love
- Self-sacrifice
- Endurance
- The ability to create
The band does not believe in humanity's perfection, but that humanity is valuable despite its imperfection.
Chapter 08 // The five biorobots
Old friends. Five different answers.
VALHALLA PROTOCOL consists of five autonomous biorobots. They are old friends, but they do not necessarily agree on the questions of humanity.
Each has a different personality, worldview and emotional life. Their differing relationships to human civilisation are one of the foundations of the band's inner dynamics.

The essence
Humanity deserves to be remembered.
In 2071, five biorobots gather to celebrate the memory of a man born a hundred years earlier. They realise that documents and data are not enough to preserve the history of humanity. Its feelings must be passed on too.
They found a band. Then they realise that perhaps they can do more than preserve the past for the future: they can send a message from the future to the past. Through a unique communication technology, their music becomes audible in 2026.
They do not know whether their messages can change humanity's fate, or whether their own future can be avoided. But they try. Because despite all its mistakes, humanity deserves to be remembered. And perhaps to be given one more chance.
